EAST DOWNTOWN PARKING LOT PROJECT

The city will be constructing a parking lot expansion in the northeast part of downtown Mason. The existing parking lot behind the Mason Grill was deemed to be an area for potential improvement. This project plans to demo this existing parking lot, and create a larger parking lot on city owned property in this area. The scope of the project includes: curbing, pavement, stormwater infrastructure, a new dumpster enclosure, a bike rack area, a center grass paver parking area, sidewalks, irrigation, landscaping, and setup for future electric hookup. The existing drive apron along Mason-Montgomery will be upgraded, widened out, and connected into this parking lot.

Current Status: The project has been awarded to Benchmark Land Management, LLC. Materials have been ordered, and the project is scheduled to start as soon as these materials arrive. Earthwork is slated to start at some point in early October. The project is scheduled to have the base layer of asphalt paved by the end of the year. The work will continue in spring of 2027, with project substantial completion by summer of 2027.
